The Philanthropic Philosophy In Life & Business

There is this philosophy in life and business – a philosophy that holds a huge place within me. This notion of giving and offering value with no expectation of receiving anything back in return.
.
There has been a shift in the way in which we market ourselves and our companies. From what was once a frenzy of pushiness and urgency to “buy”, has now transformed into a marketplace where individuals and businesses offer value and tell stories, placing final decisions more in the hands of the end consumer.
.
This is a new approach to branding and influencing where by the market gets to decide on what they want, rather than have a bunch of brands with the most money dominating the space for our attention. With a market that is more free, this allows room for true, authentic stories to be told.
.
A marketer for instance is there to attract an audience and to then lead them towards a path that benefits them. Rather than push and shove, leaders are now able to enter the marketplace and say to the consumer, “here, I made this for you. Tell me what you think”.
.
I began studying marketing and entrepreneurship in the last year and a half. This philosophy that is adopted by many influential people out there has restored my faith in what I believe it means to do business. It is not a matter of profit and loss for the month, and how quick you can build an empire and then sell it off so you can have an early retirement. This is more about practicing your craft, building something you believe in and are passionate about and then leading your tribe of people towards an experience that you have created, specifically for them – something that can truly benefit their lives.
.
As human beings, we require a sense of belonging. When a business person is able to help create a community or a tribe of people who they seek to serve by providing value without any expectations of something in return, plus a place where they can feel as though they belong, this is when things like business, philanthropy and people’s well being can all work in harmony with one another.
