Integrating A Philanthropic Philosophy Into Every Day Living.

I have plans to change what it means to people to be a philanthropist.
.
When I first started ‘This is Philanthropy’, I was afraid that I was going to cop some slack from some of those humanitarians who tend to be a little more on the sensitive side.
.
Still to this day, I am aware that criticism is going to come my way – it has already come my way a few times and I have had to deal with it head on. When you show the public your work and that work involves something like humanitarian work, then of course, you must expect that there may be some people who will have some negative things to say about what you are doing.
.
You also get a lot of positive feedback. In my case, the positive feedback largely outweighs the negatives and I am grateful for that.
.
To be honest though, I really don’t give a fuck what anybody has to say, whether it may be positive or negative. I never intended on looking ‘good’ or ‘self-righteous’ in front of my audience in order for them to think of me positively. In fact, that’s one of the last things I want. That is far too much pressure for one to handle. My list of flaws and sins extends just as far as anyone else here.
.
I do this work because I love it. I love the process, and it so happens to be that my work has a positive impact on those around me. Its the way in which I approach my work that really makes the big difference.
.
The fact that I am a humanitarian worker does not automatically qualify me to be a good, impactful person. There are many careers where generosity and impact is provided, and that is the message that I am trying to convey here – you can do good things, regardless of your job title, the amount you have given to charity or the amount of hours you have volunteered. These are nothing but numbers.
.
I look at it like this – its more about the nuances. Its more about how you conduct yourself in your every day life. Are you conscious about your own happiness and health? Do you treat people with respect? Do you do your work, whether its career related, relationship related or parent related with love, pride and passion?
.
How conscious have you been when it comes to ensuring the well being of those around you? This is what truly counts, right?
